Founder Grand Komodo

Founders

Founded by Nyoman Kirtya and Reno, the long road of Grand Komodo began in 1987 as an adventure tour operator exploring off-the-beaten tracks around Komodo. Few years later, first dive exploration was carried out teaming up with well-recognized naturalists and photographers such as Dr. Kal Muller, Burt Jones, Maurine Shimlock, Gerry Allen, Roger Steene, Wally Siagian, Mike Severns and David Pickle. From here, Komodo’s great dive sites were discovered. The company was further expanded and later known as one of Indonesia’s Liveaboard pioneer.

Nyoman Kirtya and Reno: After spending years in Bali travel and tourism industry, the couple began their own journey by establishing Grand Komodo back in 1987. Unlike many who flocked in Bali, they were drilled by the exotic beauty of East Indonesia with all its fascinating tribal culture, exotic island life, beautiful beaches, wild adventure and mind-blowing underwater world. Being the first on the unknown was certainly not easy. Yet making the most of Indonesian resources from across the archipelago, currently they have uncovered destinations of Komodo, Alor, Raja Ampat, Banda, Wakatobi, Cendrawasih and Triton Bay. And still eagerly passionate to explore more !
